Use knitted lace in child's Ballerina shrug

Here is a simple but lovely project for a little girl: Little Ballerina Shrug from All Knitted Lace

Isn't that pretty? You could use this design as a springboard and try your own lace design in the body of the shrug.

Happy Knitting!

Pretty cardi pattern and it's FREE

I love getting the free Berroco newsletter. There is always something interesting to learn and a FREE PATTERN.

The newsletter that I received today has a video to illustrate Mirror shaping.

Here is an example of what you may find in a pattern:

"Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping." ...A common phrase used by pattern writers to save print space. I hate seeing this sentence...

Use your new found skill to make this darling cardi called Gardner.

Wedding Shawl

I just finished a lovely project that I call the Wedding Shawl. I wanted to make something that wasn't too hard to knit but still had some flavor of a Shetland shawl. So this shawl is made up as simple half round design in repeating rows of eyelet then at the bottom a border of Old Shale. Do you like it?

I pulled the points of the Old Shale pattern when I blocked it to make the curve look more dramatic.
...need to write it up the pattern this week.

There is one for sale on ETSY. I will be knitting a few more for the wedding and prom season.

Free Vintage Knitting patterns from NZ

I was looking around for a vintage knitting pattern for a tea cosy and some lace trims and I came across Vintage Purls from New Zealand. There are some great sock patterns for sale here or the shop on Ravelry. I found the conversion chart for yarn thicknesses very helpful.

I LOVE this shawl from the summer sock club: Demelza.

Of course, I was drawn to the collection of vintage patterns that are offered for free. There are some great patterns here like this swimsuit...

a Poppet the Poodle that I had as a child...

oh...and the tea cosy I was looking for!
