Easy car knitting...

I like to have easy projects that can be done while riding in the car....something not too hard but to keep me occupied.

Here is a lovely little bear pattern that can be knit with some of that fuzzy novelty yarn we all have laying around. Isn't he so cute?

There are some nice tea cosies and candy recipes as well.

Enjoy, Debby

Free Vintage Knitting patterns from NZ

I was looking around for a vintage knitting pattern for a tea cosy and some lace trims and I came across Vintage Purls from New Zealand. There are some great sock patterns for sale here or the shop on Ravelry. I found the conversion chart for yarn thicknesses very helpful.

I LOVE this shawl from the summer sock club: Demelza.

Of course, I was drawn to the collection of vintage patterns that are offered for free. There are some great patterns here like this swimsuit...

a Poppet the Poodle that I had as a child...

oh...and the tea cosy I was looking for!

Happy Friday-Free vintage crochet pattern from 1911

Happy Friday!

Here is a lovely Irish crochet pattern for a dress embellishment. It is from a 1911 Weldon's magazine. I think I am going to make one to put on the shoulder of a black jacket that needs some jazzing up.

Click here for the Free PDF pattern

Here are a few samples of more patterns from this 1911 magazine for sale on ETSY

Enjoy and have a safe weekend.

Historic Knitting Resource-The Antique Pattern Library

Description from the website: The Antique Pattern Library is an ongoing project to scan antique craft and design books that are in the public domain and make them available on the internet, for free.

Bookmark this site because you will be coming back to it time and again to research vintage terms, look up patterns and download PDF versions of great resources like this Irish crochet booklet or various editions of Corticelli Lessons in Crochet. This is also a great repository of TATTING and LACE patterns and instructions. I love this site.

New on ETSY-Tea cosy and tea pot nest

Busy day today...listing more patterns on ETSY. Here is another one from Scotland from the early 1900's. It is a crocheted tea cosy (cozy) and two tea pot nests. Now THAT IS VINTAGE. When is the last time you saw some one use a nest for their tea pot.
