Another pattern to use up yarn...cotton yarn

I am always on the lookout for patterns that will use up bits of yarn but still make something useful. A fast project is even better.

Here is a unique dishcloth pattern that you can knit up in no time. Use up your bits of cotton yarn and have some extra cloths for hostess gifts!

Do you have some favorite patterns to use up odd bits of yarn?

Victorian treasures from England

I have posted some Victorian treasures for sale on ETSY.

The Shilling guide is a precious primary source for many lost arts such as lace making.

A few examples of the instructions included are for carrickmacross lace, honiton lace, irish crochet lace, limerick lace, point lace, tatting, teneriffe lace and torchon lace. There are projects in smocking, knitting and crochet as well.

There are some single issues of Weldon's Practical guides and Fancy Needlework Illustrated too.

Enjoy, Debby

Some new patterns just published!

I just published two new patterns.

The first is a take off on the Celtic Doggie Stepping Stones Dog sweater pattern. I have gotten so may compliments on this design but not everyone needs a dog sweater. A dishcloth is an easy to complete project and a fun way to practice knitting an Aran cable design.

It can be knit on size 8 or 9 US knitting needles (5 or 5.5 mm) with worsted wt cotton yarn.

The pattern is available on Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy.

The second pattern is a new doggie sweater in the Celtic Doggie collection. This time I have combined cables and lace for this easy to knit design.

It can be knit on size 8 or 9 US knitting needles (5 or 5.5 mm) with worsted wt yarn.

The pattern is available on Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy.

What do I make for a boy's baby shower?

All the lovely historic, lacy patterns that I have for bonnets, booties etc are great but I don't think all modern mothers are really looking for that sort of thing for their boys. They don't seem to be as sentimental as me! Oh well,  but I just found this little knitting pattern for a football at KnitPicks. With a bib, I think it would fill the bill for a shower gift. Do you have any favorites for a baby boy's shower?

Send over a picture if you make one!
