Great Idea for a yarn bowl

When I see a great idea, I always wonder why I didn't think of that! Still, here it is... make your own yarn bowl and stop chasing your balls of yarn!

Snowflakes..for you and Sandy Hook Winter Wonderland

Well, it doesn't happen very often but it is snowing in Virginia!. Even my cats are looking out the window with surprise.

The temperature will rise to the 40's this afternoon and the snow will all be gone but you can crochet some very cute snowflakes to celebrate winter.

Lion Brand has some easy to crochet snowflakes in their FREE PATTERNS section. You will need to log-in to download but it is free to join this site.

Here another great use of crocheted snowflakes...I found this blog that is part of the project to make snowflakes to create a Winter Wonderland at school in Sandy Hook, CT. They have a few more pretty patterns you can use.

From the PTA site:

When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. Parent-volunteers are working to ensure that the students are welcomed back by a winter wonderland with the entire school decorated with as many unique snowflakes as possible. We encourage senders to be as creative as possible, remembering that no two snowflakes are alike. Please make and send snowflakes by January 12, 2013 to the Connecticut PTSA address at the bottom of this page.

Thanks for thinking of others, Debby

Heirloom knitting resource....free patterns

Check out these fabulous patterns for round knitted doilies. These can be used to make more than doilies...how about a lacy washcloth or even a round shawl with some alteration. I love this style of doily since it is knit on two needles then grafted at the end to the first row.

There is more to see at this site which is a resource for Judith McLeod-Odel's book, Heirloom Knits.

There is a notice that Judith has passed away but the site will remain for an undisclosed period of time. Check it out now and save the information that you want before it is shut down.
